Vlada works as a truck driver during the NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999. Tasked with transporting a mysterious load from Kosovo to Belgrade, he drives through unfamiliar territory, trying to make his way through a country scarred by war. He knows that once the job is done, he will need to return home and face the consequences of his actions. Ognjen Glavonić based his film on a true-life horror incident which he first explored in his forensic documentary Depth Two (Berlinale, Forum 2016). The Load premiered in Directors’ Fortnight program at Cannes and earned its leading actor Leon Lučev the Heart of Sarajevo prize at Sarajevo Film Festival 2018.
