Since fleeing the persecution of the Hazara ethnic minority in Afghanistan as a little boy, Ismail has been living in Italy with his brother Hassan. After several disturbing phone calls from their mother, whom they believed was dead, brothers will find themselves on opposite sides. Should one go and face the family’s destiny in a land far away or stay in the only home they know? Just Like My Son is a true story based on the life of Mohammad Jan Azad, a protagonist of Quatriglio’s documentary Il mondo addosso (2016). The film premiered at Locarno Festival (out of competition) in 2018.
