Kristl in the role of a prisoner, a man who can only laugh at the sight of the General. Banned for political satire, all but one of its copies were destroyed, the surviving one being smuggled out of Yugoslavia and its author going into exile to Germany.

Vlado Kristl

(1923 – 2004) Croatian painter, animator, and director. Best known today for his animated masterpiece Don Quixote from 1961. His varied oeuvre holds the central place in the Yugoslav avant-garde.
