Aida Begić returns to ZFF with a film about a refugee crisis seen from the eyes of children. This is a familiar subject to the director whose films often focus on the youngest victims of conflicts. After his mother dies, 14-year-old Isa is sent to an orphanage for Syrian refugees in Şanlıurfa, Turkey. There, he begins an uneasy friendship with Ahmad, whose father disappeared in Syria, and Motaz, whose mother remarried and left him in the orphanage. The boys are not particularly fond of each other, but they all want to leave the orphanage and start a new life. To get some money, they start selling paper tissues to visitors around the historic site of Balıklıgöl. Facing many problems, they will be forced to start relying on each other. Aida Begić’s third feature is a Bosnian candidate for the Academy Award.
