Sarah is an Israeli and runs a café in West Jerusalem. Saleem is a Palestinian from East Jerusalem and works as a deliveryman. Despite being worlds apart and married, Sarah and Saleem risk everything as they embark on an illicit affair that could tear apart their families. When a risky late-night tryst goes awry and threatens to expose them, the two of them franticly try to salvage what’s left of their lives. Caught up in the occupying machinery and socio-political pressure, Sarah and Saleem find themselves trapped in a web of deceit and not even the truth seems able to stop it. The film won the Special Jury Award for Best Screenplay and the Audience Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

A Palestinian filmmaker and cinematographer. He studied film in San Francisco. His short film Why Sabreen? (2009) won awards at film festivals worldwide (Clermont-Ferrand, Aspen). Alayan is co-founder of Palcine Productions, a collective of filmmakers and artists in Jerusalem and Bethlehem. His debut feature Love, Theft and Other Entanglements (2015) premiered in Berlin.
